Spring break is approaching quickly, and you’re probably already dreaming of blue skies, sandy toes, and suntans! Having just come back from a trip, I figured now would be a great time to share a few quick-’n-easy fitness tips to incorporate while you’re away.
Tempo runs
If you haven’t ever tried running on the beach, you’re missing out! Not only is the sand beautiful, but adding in a few tempo runs will help you burn extra calories and work on your metabolic fitness.
Yoga
Yoga is a great stress-relieving exercise that takes mental and physical strength. Although you may not be an avid yogi, attending a class or two while you’re away might be just what you need to stretch out your body.
Hydrate
Staying hydrated can be difficult on a vacation. If you’re somewhere tropical, the humidity and heat may be something you’re not used to, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself sweating more than usual, so you need to drink more water. Remember to bring a water bottle with you!
Walk
Walking can drastically change your calorie burn on vacation when you typically don’t get a lot of physical activity. Instead of hopping in the car and driving to dinner, leave a little early and walk. It’s a great way to get in some extra steps! While on vacation, I love to wear my iFit Axis HR wearable to track my steps, and I use my iFit Coach membership to make sure I’m still reaching my daily goals.
Wear good shoes
Although you may be spending a lot of time outside in warm temperatures, don’t forget to bring a good pair of shoes along, especially if you plan on doing a lot of walking. I love to bring my Altra Running shoes with me, because they keep my feet feeling comfortable and supported day after day.
Healthy snacks
It’s easy to grab some chips and a candy bar to fuel yourself throughout the day, but planning ahead and strategically purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables from either a grocery store or a local farmer’s market is a simple way to maintain healthy eating habits while you’re out and about.
Pack workout clothes
Swimsuits and shorts aren’t the only thing that need to make it into your suitcase! Packing workout clothes can really help give you the motivation to exercise on vacation. After all, if you don’t have them, you can’t use them!
Good luck staying on track with your fitness on your next vacation!
